President Jamie Howard is a 1985 graduate of
Metcalfe County High School and a graduate from Western
Kentucky University. Jamie resides in Edmonton
with her husband, David and two children, Drew age 13
and 7 year old Carlie. She is a member of the
Edmonton Baptist Church, an active member of Metcalfe
County Relay for Life Committee and is honored to serve
on the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors. Jamie is employed by the
Metcalfe County Board of Education where she serves as
coordinator for Preschool, Professional Development and
Elementary Instruction |
DUTIES OF
DIRECTORS
|
ARTICLE 5: ORGANIZATION
The
governing body of the Chamber of Commerce shall
be the Board of Directors. the Officers of the
Chamber of Commerce shall be a President, Vice
President, Treasurer and Secretary. There shall
be appointed, by the President such operating
committees as are deemed necessary for the
orderly and continued operation of the Chamber
of Commerce. These committees will be both
standing and temporary.
1. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The
Board of Directors of the Edmonton-Metcalfe
County Chamber of Commerce shall consist of nine
(9) members plus the appointed youth member.
(a)
Nominating Committee
Nominations shall be secured by a Nominating
Committee,
appointed by the President. this committee
is to furnish one (1)
name for each vacancy on the Board of Directors,
as a single slate,
with all other Chamber members listed for
consideration as write -in nominees if any
member so desires. Candidates selected by
the nominating committee are to be contacted
prior to the election in order to make sure they
will be able to serve if elected. The
nominating committee shall present a ballot of
Director Candidates to the membership in
November of each year. Provisions shall
likewise be made for write-in candidates on the
above ballot. The ballots shall be mailed
to each member fourteen (14) days prior to the
election date.
(b)
ELECTION
The
Board of Directors shall be elected for a term
of three (3) years with one third of the board
being elected each year. Any member of the
board whose term is expiring may not be
re-elected in that current election; however, he
may be elected in the future years.
The
Board of Directors shall be charged with the
duty of tabulating the ballots for the election.
(c)
INSTALLATION
Although the Board will take office on January
1st of each year, they will be
installed at the December Christmas Social
Meeting.
(d)
VACANCIES ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS OR OFFICERS
Any
vacancy on the Board of Directors must be filled
from the category vacated. All vacancies
whether Officers or Board of Directors will be
filled by appointment of the President, upon
approval of the Board of Directors.
(e)
MEETINGS
The
Board of Directors shall meet at the call of
the President. Special Meetings of the Board
may be held upon the request of the Directors.
The
Board of Directors shall meet in October to
choose a slate of the following officers for
the membership to vote upon in November:

Such employees as shall be deemed advisable
by the Board.
(f)
DUTIES AND POWERS OF THE DIRECTORS
The
Board of Directors shall be the executive arm of
the Chamber of Commerce and all the business and
activities of the Chamber shall be managed and
conducted by and under the direction on the
Board of Directors. The Board shall do all
things necessary to promote the objects and
usefulness of the Chamber. Its powers to
these ends shall be without other limitation
except as may be provided by the By Laws.
The Board of Directors, by resolution or
otherwise, shall not commit the Chamber on any
public question not directly affecting its
interest and welfare as an organization.
The Board of Directors may refer such
matters called to its attention to a general
meeting of the membership of the Chamber of
Commerce. It shall be the duty of the
Directors to attend all regular of called
meetings of
the
Board, and any Director absenting himself for
three consecutive meetings, without first
having given written notice to the President of
his inability to attend, and the reason thereof,
shall be notified by the secretary of the fact
of such absence, and informed of the further
provisions hereinafter to be mentioned and
should he fail to attend the next regular
meeting, he shall be deemed to have resigned his
office as a director; and his position as
chairman or member of any committees to which he
has been appointed; whereupon the Board shall
fill the vacancy as provided for in section
1-(d), Article 5, Page 3. |

Vice
President Freeda Reece and her husband Don Allen
have two adult children Ashley and Brian. Freeda
has worked at Edmonton State Bank for 35+ years.
She worked actively in the revitalization of the local
chamber of commerce in 1994 and has served on their
board of directors and as president. She is also
very active in the Metcalfe County Relay for Life and
the Edmonton Homemakers. She serves on the Board
of Directors for Barn Lot Theater. While her children
were in school, she was most active in volunteering in
the school system and continues to support the local
school system in various ways. In her spare time,
she enjoys stained glass art. |
Secretary
Cheryl Calender
Secretary, Cheryl
Calender, moved to Metcalfe County soon after she and
Lynn were married in 1984. They have seven
children and an ever-growing number of grandchildren.
Cheryl graduated from Mercer University and was a
teacher before moving to Kentucky. She and Lynn
established a building materials business which they
operate with their son, Gabe. Cheryl is a
Metcalfe Leadership alumni and appreciates the
opportunity to serve the community by serving on the
Chamber Board.

Treasurer
Martha Bragg is a life long resident of Metcalfe
County. She is married to Danny Bragg and they
have 2 children, Daniel, a graduate of WKU and
Brandon, a student at WKU. She has been treasurer
of the chamber of commerce for over 16 years, the
chairman of Metcalfe County Relay for Life and active in
many other organizations. Martha truly enjoy
helping others and making a difference in the lives of
others. God has given her an ability to help
many different organizations in Metcalfe County and she
is thankful for that opportunity. |
Director
Rita Poynter has lived in Metcalfe County her entire
life. In 1976 she married Jerry Poynter and they
live in the Sulphur Well Community. She is a very
active member of the Pink Ridge Baptist Church.
Rita cared for her sick mother for many years.
Following her mother's death, she began helping her
sister Carolyn at whatever job she held. The last
four years, Rita has been Carolyn's "right hand woman"
at Wall Works, owned by Carolyn. Rita is a " people"
person. She loves meeting and helping people.
Another passion of Rita's is eating! |

Director
Ella Lee Wilson
graduated from Metcalfe County High school in 1966 and
lives in Sulphur Well with her husband Forrest. They
have two children, Beth Thompson (Tommy) who is a
teacher at the Metcalfe Middle School and Greg, who is
County Judge-Exec. and six grandchildren. For the last
nineteen years, Ella Lee has spent a great
deal of her time caring for her grandchildren, and their
activities still keep her on the go. She is a member of
the Sulphur Well Methodist Church where she teaches
Sunday School. She is a member of the Sulphur Well
Homemakers where she helped revitalize the Sulphur Well
Park and Homecoming in the early 80's. She is a founding
member of the Metcalfe County Garden Club and a Master
Gardener.
Ella Lee and her siblings recently opened The Family
Place, a consignment store in the North Metcalfe area.
She enjoys flower gardening and reading in her spare
time.
She is a Metcalfe Leadership Alumni and appreciates
the opportunity to work with the chamber for the
betterment of our county.

Director Alicia Reed
is a graduate of Metcalfe County High School. She and
her husband Steve reside in the Randolph Community
They have 2 sons, Matt, a teacher at EES and
Jonathan a student at WKU. She has been employed
with the City of Edmonton for 15 years. Alicia is a
member of Missionary Mound Church and a Metcalfe
Leadership Alumni. She enjoys walking with her girl
friends and spending time with her family and friends.
Alicia looks forward to becoming more involved in our
community. |

Director Lu Carey, born and raised in Wyoming
moved to Metcalfe County from Southern California,
January 1995 with her husband H. B. Carey. Their farm
of 41 acres had been purchased in 1988 awaiting their
retirement from California. Lu and H. B. are owners of
Carey Consulting, Inc. established in 1996 and winner of
the Kentucky Governor’s new product award for 1999. The
“Careylift” is a tube bundle lifting device used by the
Petro-Chemical Industry with “Careylifts” being shipped
all over the world. Lu is a member of the Edmonton
Baptist Church, and was a member of the first Leadership
Metcalfe County 1999 class. Currently, Lu works part
time at the Metcalfe Co. Public Library where she loves
being surrounded by her favorite past time “books”. Lu
and H. B. has a blended family of 5 children, 12
grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. |

Director
Kim Smith is a life long resident of Metcalfe
County. Kim graduated from Metcalfe County High in
1973 and is also a graduate of Western Kentucky
University. She resides in Edmonton with her husband
Doug. They have two daughters, Annie and Sarah.
Kim is a member of the Edmonton United Methodist Church,
the Edmonton Homemaker's and serves on the Board of
Directors for Bowling Park. She is a retired elementary
school teacher, having taught for 27 years at Edmonton
Elementary and North Metcalfe Elementary. Kim is a
graduate of the Metcalfe County Leadership Class and is
proud to serve on the Chamber Board of Directors. |
Director
Jim (Itaru) Tsukagoshi
has managed
global distribution and manufacturing companies for over
30 years before starting public accounting practices in
Kentucky. He worked for 16 years at Mitsubishi
Corporation in Tokyo including 6 years in Chicago from
1977 till 1982.
In 1984 Jim was
recruited by Uniden Corporation which produced
telecommunications equipment, and appointed as President
and CEO of Uniden America and Canada. He worked in
Orange County, California, New York City, Indianapolis,
and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
In 1993 Jim was hired to turnaround SPD, a
Sumitomo Electric and Phelps Dodge, 50/50 joint venture
in Edmonton. The business had been profitable for five
years when Phelps Dodge sold their shares to Sumitomo,
and Jim was reassigned to a Phelps Dodge unit in Fort
Wayne, Indiana.
Jim has been helping and advising medium and small
businesses first in Detroit, Michigan and since 2002 in
Kentucky and its surrounding states as a CPA.

The SCORE (Counselors to America’s Small Business),
founded in 1964 as Service Corps of Retired Executives,
a national non-profit organization funded by the SBA. |

Beth Wilson
is
a lifelong resident of Metcalfe County.
Beth resides in Edmonton with her husband, Delaney and
three children, Susie Beth, Cam and Ty. She is a member
of Penick’s Chapel United Baptist Church. She is
thankful to have been blessed with a loving family and
supportive friends. She has been employed with the
Edmonton-Metcalfe County 911 Communications Center and
part time for the Barren-Metcalfe County Ambulance
Service since 1995. Beth obtained her certification in
Telecommunications at the Department of Criminal Justice
Training in Richmond, KY. She has been a volunteer EMT/FF
with the Edmonton-Metcalfe County VFD since 1993. Beth
and her family share a commitment for the safety and
service to the citizens of Metcalfe County. Beth is
a Metcalfe Leadership Alumni and is excited for
the opportunity to serve on the Chamber
of Commerce.

Executive Director
Gaye Shaw has worked for the Edmonton-Metcalfe
County Chamber of Commerce since its revitalization in
September 1994. She and her husband Danny have four
sons, Chris ( Brookie), Lee, Matthew (Melissa) and
Jonathan, a daughter Carolyn (Rodney) and two
granddaughters Addison & Ava. . Gaye is a member of Missionary Mound
Baptist Church, a member of the inaugural Leadership
Metcalfe County 1999 Class, the Metcalfe
County Safe Kids, a board member of the Metcalfe
County Service Unit of the Salvation Army and a member
of the Superintendent's Roundtable. She actively
supports the Metcalfe County Relay for Life. |
