DIRECTORS

 
     

President Becky Nunnally and her husband Tommy, reside in Edmonton.   They have two grown sons, one daughter-in-law, and 2 grandsons.  She is a retired teacher from the Metcalfe Co. Board of Education.  She taught 27 yrs. in this system.  She retired to keep her grandson, which happens to be her favorite past time.  She is actively involved in all the activities of the "Grand" kids.  She was chosen as the first Metcalfe Educator of the year 2002 by the Chamber of Commerce.  She is also involved with various chamber activities. She is also a member of the Retired Teachers Organization.

 

DUTIES OF DIRECTORS

ARTICLE 5: ORGANIZATION

The governing body of the Chamber of Commerce shall be the Board of Directors.  the Officers of the Chamber of Commerce shall be a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.  There shall be appointed, by the President such operating committees as are deemed necessary for the orderly and continued operation of the Chamber of Commerce.  These committees will be both standing and temporary.
 

1.  BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors of the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce shall consist of nine (9) members plus the appointed youth member.
 

(a) Nominating Committee

Nominations shall be secured by a Nominating Committee,        appointed by the President.  this committee is to furnish one (1)        name for each vacancy on the Board of Directors, as a single slate,        with all other Chamber members listed for consideration as write -in nominees if any member so desires.  Candidates selected by the nominating committee are to be contacted prior to the election in order to make sure they will be able to serve if elected.  The nominating committee shall present a ballot of Director Candidates to the membership in November of each year.  Provisions shall likewise be made for write-in candidates on the above ballot.  The ballots shall be mailed to each member fourteen (14) days prior to the election date.
 

(b) ELECTION

The Board of Directors shall be elected for a term of three (3) years with one third of the board being elected each year.  Any member of the board whose term is expiring may not be re-elected in that current election; however, he may be elected in the future years.

The Board of Directors shall be charged with the duty of tabulating the ballots for the election.
 

(c) INSTALLATION

Although the Board will take office on January 1st of each year, they  will          be installed at the December Christmas Social Meeting.
 

(d) VACANCIES ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS OR OFFICERS

Any vacancy on the Board of Directors must be filled from the     category vacated.  All vacancies whether Officers or Board of Directors will be filled by appointment of the President, upon approval of the Board of Directors.
 

(e) MEETINGS

The Board of Directors shall meet at the call of  the President.  Special Meetings of the Board may be held upon the request of the Directors.

The Board of Directors shall meet in October to choose a slate of the following  officers for the membership to vote upon in November:

  1. President

  2. Vice President

  3. Secretary

  4. Treasurer

  5. Such employees as shall be deemed advisable by the Board.
     

(f) DUTIES AND POWERS OF THE DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors shall be the executive arm of the Chamber of Commerce and all the business and activities of the Chamber shall be managed and conducted by and under the direction on the Board of Directors.  The Board shall do all things necessary to promote the objects and usefulness of the Chamber.  Its powers to these ends shall be without other limitation except as may be provided by the By Laws.  The Board of Directors, by resolution or otherwise, shall not commit the Chamber on any public question not directly affecting its interest and welfare as an organization.  The Board of Directors may refer such matters called to its attention to a general meeting of the membership of the Chamber of Commerce.  It shall be the duty of the Directors to attend all regular of called meetings of the Board, and any Director absenting himself for three consecutive meetings, without  first having given written notice to the President of his inability to attend, and the reason thereof, shall be notified by the secretary of the fact of such absence, and informed of the further provisions hereinafter to be mentioned and should he fail to attend the next regular meeting, he shall be deemed to have resigned his office as a director; and his position as chairman or member of any committees to which he has been appointed; whereupon the Board shall fill the vacancy as provided for in section 1-(d), Article 5, Page 3.

 

 

Vice President Bob Burton and his wife Lillie  relocated to Edmonton, September 2000.   They have five children, four grown and one a junior in high school.  He served  three years in the Army at the Army Intelligence School in Oberammergau, Germany.  After Military Service He worked with the Potomac Electric Power Company, Washington, DC and Reynolds Metals, Sheffield, Alabama  before studying for the ministry.  Bob is pastor of the  Edmonton United Methodist Church.  He recently celebrated his 40th year of Ordained Ministry.  Bob holds degrees from Northwest Alabama College, Alabama;   Clarksville College, Tennessee; Kentucky Christian University, Kentucky; Luther Rice Seminary. Georgia.   He enjoys walking,  gardening and reading as hobbies.  Bob has served on the Board of Directors for two years and is actively involved in the Edmonton Community.

 

Secretary Kaye Hope is a resident of Summer Shade and married to Rick Hope who works at Kingsford Mfg. They have 3 daughters, 2 sons-in law, and 3 grandchildren. Kaye has a BS and an MA degree from Western Ky. University.  She taught school in Metcalfe Co. for 21 years then worked as a vocational counselor with the Ky. Dept of Vocational Rehabilitation for 6 years before retiring in 2001. Presently her main job is playing with her grandchildren. Kaye is a member of Edmonton Baptist Church and sings in the choir and teaches a Wednesday night class for girls. She was a member of the Lifeskills Board of Directors for 8 years. Her hobbies include reading, bowling, enjoying her family.

 

Treasurer Martha Bragg is a life long resident of Metcalfe County. She is married to Danny Bragg and they  have 2 children, Daniel, a student at WKU  and Brandon, a student at MCHS. Martha is very involved in the lives of her children and tries to be at all their events.  She has been treasurer of the chamber of commerce for 12 years.  Martha truly enjoy helping others and making a difference in the lives of others.  God has given her  an ability to help many different organizations in Metcalfe County and she is thankful for that opportunity.

 

Director Debbie Smith &  her husband David are life long residents of Metcalfe County.  They have one daughter, Emily ( Daniel) Coffey and one granddaughter, Taylor. Debbie is retired from the Metcalfe County Circuit Court Clerk's Office where she was the chief deputy clerk for thirty-two years.  Her favorite past time is picking Taylor up from school, attending school functions & spending time with her family. She is a member of Grace Union Baptist Church. She served as President of the Edmonton Jayceettes and is an alumni of Leadership Metcalfe County 1999. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Metcalfe County Library and is employed part time at GET FIT for Ladies in Edmonton.

 

Director Becky Tucker and her husband Ronnie are life-long residents of Sulphur Well in Metcalfe County.  They have two sons and daughter-in-laws,  Chris & wife Angie and Jason and wife Jessica. They are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren, Brilie, Gracie, Mason, Kruz and Allie Coe, deceased.  Becky works at Williams and Tucker Auto Parts, a family owned business. Becky is an active member of  Sulphur Well Methodist Church and the Sulphur Well Homemakers. She enjoys supporting community activities, gardening, and most of all, spending time with the grandchildren!

 
Director Linda Thompson is retired from Metcalfe County Health Care.  She was employed with Topps Manufacturing Company as payroll and insurance clerk for twelve years.  Linda also served as secretary to the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce for two years and is currently serving as a director.  She is an active member of the Sulphur Well United Methodist Church, and serves on the Advisory Board for the Family & Youth Resource Services Center.  Linda serves as a member of programs such as Safe Kids, Drug Coalition, Mentoring Program, and volunteers for many other programs.  She resides in Edmonton with her husband Clifton, and has two married children and five grandchildren.
 
Director Vicki Barnes and her husband Rick relocated to Edmonton in 2002 from Georgia.  They have four married children and four grandchildren.   Vicki spent 20 years working in the Carpet Industry in Georgia as a Human Resource VP.  She is also a U.S. Navy Veteran.  Vicki owns and operates GET FIT for Ladies, a 30 minute fitness center, on the square in Edmonton.
 
Director John Ray Ford, a 1995 graduate of Metcalfe County High School and a 2000 graduate of Western Kentucky University, married Kara Shive in October of 2005.  He is currently  employed at Glass & Thompson Insurance and has been there since February 2006.   He was previously employed as a stock manager for Edmonton CB Foods for 10+ years.  He and Kara reside in Glasgow at 404 North Race Street, where  they  are restoring a 140 year old Victorian home.  John Ray is the son of Gary & Susan Ford of Summer Shade.  Kara is the daughter of Mike & Lanetta Shive of Knob Lick.
 
Director Carolyn Poynter is a life long resident of Metcalfe County.  She is married to Roger Poynter and they have one son Cole.  Carolyn is the owner-operator of Wall Works, a home décor’ business located on the Edmonton Square.
 
Director Tana Shade  moved to Edmonton  10 years ago after she and her  husband Paul purchased the IGA Store from Mr. Dallas Cavannah.  Since moving to Edmonton , she has been very busy working fulltime at the store, which they converted to a C.B. Food Store. Tana has a son, Chris, who works at Sumitomo.  She currently is Secretary/Treasurer of the Edmonton Homemakers Club and secretary of the Metcalfe County Service Unit of the Salvation Army board of Directors.  In her limited spare time she loves to read, create scrapbooks and attend plays at Barnlot Theater.
